Neighbor of mine in Bridgewater, NJ, until we went separate ways after graduation from Bridgewater-Raritan High School.
Lived one street south of my house along North Bridge Street.
From the FaceBook announcement...
It is with great sadness and a very heavy heart that I have to share that my Dad, Cole "Van" Nevius, went home to be Jesus yesterday.
Those of you that knew him, know that he was a very strong and larger than life man, but had the most tender heart, and deepest love for his family.
He was so passionate about my Mom, his children, his grandchildren, and his country. He lived a very full and great life in his 70 years, and has left us with so many incredible memories as Father, a husband, a Pop-Pop, Brother, Uncle, and friend. Being a Pop-Pop to his 7 grandchildren was his favorite and most cherished title.
He has struggled with numerous health problems for several years. We thought it would be Kidney Failure that would eventually take his life, but it was ultimately his heart that failed. His heart has not been whole for the last 11 years since we lost my sister, but we know it is made whole again now that they are together in heaven.
Our hearts are broken, and my Mom has lost the only love of her life after 40 years together. Please pray for her and our family during this difficult time. God has a brand new feisty angel up there!!
Please watch over and protect us. I miss you Daddy. We will keep everyone posted about Memorial arrangements, most likely the end of October, or first week in November.
