Who We Are

Neuse River Golden Retriever Rescue Incorporated is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding permanent homes for golden retrievers in need. Goldens come into the program from a wide variety of backgrounds. They may be the products of broken homes, found on the side of the road, dropped off at pounds or shelters or in any number of unsettling situations. They can be anywhere from 6 weeks old to 13+ years in age. The mission of NRGRR is to find these Goldens homes where they will be cherished and loved, treated as a welcome addition to your family. NRGRR is managed and run by volunteers whose efforts are dedicated to preserving the breed.

Adopting a friend

Prospective adopters call the NRGRR Infoline (919-676-7144) and are screened by the Information Line volunteers to ensure the Golden will be placed in the best possible environment. Prospective adopters will then need to fill out an Adoption Application sent to them by the Information Line volunteer and, upon approval, review a list of available Goldens. Based on the flexibility and situation of the adopter and the availability of dogs, the list is reviewed and the telephone numbers for the respective foster families are exchanged. The prospective adopter then makes appointments with the foster family to visit a rescue Golden. Adoption fees are required to help cover medical expenses.

Come Visit Us!

NRGRR has no shelter facilities. Our dogs are fostered by volunteers who open their houses and hearts to these dogs. If you think you would like to foster for NRGRR, call us at (919) 676-7144.
